Why Your Escort Site Needs A Links Page

June 28, 2010

In a recent post about how to get traffic to your escort site I explained that the best place to start is by getting people to link to your site, with escort directories being a good source. What I may not have stressed enough is that in order to get links pointing to your website you will generally need to give away some links from your website. This is where the links page comes in handy.

A links page is where you can post links to other websites so that they can return the favor, it is generally a requirement if you want to get listed in an escort directory. Below is an example of a links page on one of our templates that has links pointing to our site and a few popular directories:

So as for a lot of things in life, if you give a little traffic away it’s a good way to get some in return. Don’t be stingy with your traffic either, remember that if your website is brand new then the amount of traffic you pass on through your links page is going to be minimal. If you are established and getting a lot of traffic just make sure that your site is eye-catching and enticing enough to encourage people to stick around rather than click on your links page.

The example above is an escort agency website but independents you need a links page too. There is a great tradition in the online indie community where you link to other indie providers on your banner page, sharing is caring!

In my next post I’ll explain the technical side of a links page and how to add banners/links to your site through html or our escort website manager.

The Growth Of Our Escort Website Manager

The other day we launched our brand new escort website management tool, the redesign was about 3 months in the making – here are a couple of the iterations it went through.

Here’s our previous design:

cms-v1

It was functional but was not an interface you would enjoy looking at daily. This was our first attempt at creating an escort website management system and our first web app. We had good feedback about the way our sites looked on the front end but there was a real disconnect between the escort template themes and the website manager.

Tracking Your Escort Website Traffic

Yesterday I wrote about getting traffic to your escort website, today I’ll be showing you  how to keep track of this traffic and tell you why it’s an important part of your marketing strategy.

Learning exactly how many visitors your site is getting is pretty simple:

1) If you’re using our new escort website manager we’ll show traffic from your past 30 days on your dashboard when you login (nothing like some shameless self-promotion!), no setup required.

dashboard-stats

2) Google Analytics is a free traffic stats tool that is free and provides better stats than anyone else out there at the moment. Their product is so good we recommend all our customers signup with them to get very detailed stats. Signup only takes a minute if you don’t already have a google account and within minutes you’ll have a piece of code that looks like this:

<script type=”text/javascript”>

var gaJsHost = ((”https:” == document.location.protocol) ? “https://ssl.” : “http://www.”);

document.write(unescape(”%3Cscript src=’” + gaJsHost + “google-analytics.com/ga.js’ type=’text/javascript’%3E%3C/script%3E”));

</script>

<script type=”text/javascript”>

try {

var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(”UA-12345-1″);

pageTracker._trackPageview();

} catch(err) {}</script>

This piece of code just needs to be copied into the html of your escort website, just above the </body> tag. If you don’t know how to do this or don’t have access to your html then just ask your webmaster, it only takes a few seconds. If you want to get rid of your webmaster, it’s easy to start managing your own escort site today.

Now that you can see exactly who is visiting your escort agency or independent website and where they are coming from, it’s time to see if all that marketing you have been paying for is giving you a good return! If you are paying $100s of dollars per month for an escort directory listing that is bringing you hardly any traffic then it might be time to look elsewhere. Keep in mind that a small amount of traffic from the right place can be more valuable than a lot of traffic from the wrong place but I’ll save that explanation for another day…

How to get traffic to your escort website

So you’ve got a great looking escort website online, you’ve posted your phone number and email address, now it’s just time to sit back and wait… check your email account… and wait… check your voicemails… and wait… Nothing happening? Don’t worry you’re not alone and there’s a very good reason you’re getting no enquiries, let me explain.

I liken it to building a bridge. If you built a fine, sturdy bridge over a river that did not connect to a road on either side, would you expect people to cross it? Of course not, no one knows it exists and the only way someone will find it is if they are travelling off-road and stumble upon it. So your website newyorkpremierescorts.com is sitting in the expanse of the virtual world with no roads connecting to it and will only be found if by some chance someones travelling off-google and types it directly into their browser. What are the chances of that happening? Unless you’re lucky enough to own escorts.com it is not likely to happen very often and the chances that one of these off-googlers would then be interested in your services and contact you is even less.

The worst part about being a bridge with no roads connecting is that Google will even have trouble finding you! This means you won’t show up in the google search results at all.

How do you build the roads that are going to bring you real traffic? On the internet, the roads are called “links” and they are the way that serious traffic is able to find your site. Basically a link is a word, group of words, or image that when you click on it, takes you to some other point of the internet. If you are reading this article you probably clicked on our link in google to find escortdesign.com, they are everywhere and used by anyone surfing the web. Here is a >link< that points you to my twitter page ;)

“Ok, I think I understand what a link is (I’m not that dumb) but how do I get one to point at my site?” This is the beauty of the internet, people are giving away links left, right and centre (usually in exchange for a link from your site to theirs). The place I tell all our customers to start is in escort directories, these sites get huge traffic from people who are looking for escorts so it is the perfect place to have your link. Just google “escort directory” then look over some of the directories and you’re bound to find a bunch that offer free listings in exchange for a link from your site.

Now rinse, and repeat. Pretty soon you should be able to get 5 or 10 directory listings for free, this should bring through a nice stream of traffic and hopefully get that phone ringing and email inbox full!

Remember to be patient though, although you can do a lot instantly on the computer, successful marketing is not one of them. Take your time, keep chipping away at those roads and pretty soon you should start to see some traffic crossing your fine bridge!

Who says escort templates have to look like templates?

So I know what you’re thinking, an escort template can’t possible look as good as a custom design? Well perhaps if they weren’t designed by a team with a decade of experience creating custom work for some of the biggest names in the adult industry…
